Soumya's May Wrap-Up

Hi guys!
So I basically read nothing during May :( I was really busy studying for finals, preparing for orchestra concerts, and whatnot, and I've been in a huge slump all month long. This post is going to be a bit ranty and maybe even depressing, so just bear with me.

I've kind of run out of books to read from our small school library and also the public library. I don't know whether it's spring fever (now summer fever!) or just plain old laziness, but I just haven't been feeling it this month. I read only fifteen books this month, which is an all-time-low, and it's probably not going to increase over the summer since I'll be travelling and can't buy/borrow/carry books around. Let's move onto the books!

So, Bright Young Things is my most recent read and Geek Girl is the oldest. That's about all for this category.

I've abandoned this challenge since I'm not really having fun with it, and that was the whole point. Maybe next year?

MY FAVORITE: The Winner's Curse by Marie Rutoski
This book was phenomenal! I loved everything about it- the plot, the characters, the setting, the cover. OMG the cover. I really really recommend you read this if you haven't yet, I devoured it all in one sitting. I can't wait to get my hands on the sequel! I also really loved A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J Maas. Read my mini review about it here!

MY LEAST FAVORITE: Geek Girl by Holly Smale
This book really bothered me. I hated a lot of it and barely tolerated the rest. The characters annoyed me, the Britishness annoyed me (a first) and the plot especially annoyed me. I thought that this book would actually have something to do with intelligence and how smartness is beautifulness, but it was mostly just complaining about modelling. I really wanted to enjoy this book but I found that it was extremely difficult to even finish this. Unless you're a British geek-turned-model who loves to read bad writing, I don't suggest picking this one up.

It's haul time! Only, I don't have any books to share with you this month.
Um, I did swap my copy of I Am The Messenger for a copy of Broken Hearts, Fences, and Other Things to Mend. Does that count?

Life was really boring this month. I finished up a load of projects, studied (and aced!) finals, played in a nerve-racking concert and a stressful tournament, etcetera etcetera. Hopefully the summer will be more eventful and filled with lots of fun in the sun and ice cream! I might disappear off the blog due to spotty internet during my travelling, but I'll be back soon, never fear :) Have a great summer, guys!
